描述
Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) infection most often causes blister-like sores or blemishes on the skin that eventually crust over in scabs before healing.
Two serological subtypes of HSV have been described: HSV-1 and HSV-2. HSV-1 is primarily associated with an infection in the tongue, mouth, lips, pharynx and eye; whereas HSV-2 is primarily associated with genital and neonatal infection. However, either subtype can cause genital infections and HSV-1 is increasingly identified as a cause of genital symptoms. Genital herpes is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases. This is a major cause of morbidity and mortality.
Bio-Rad’s Pathfinder HSV 1 and 2 kit provides the direct antigen detection and differentiation of Herpes simplex virus (HSV) types 1 and 2. The monoclonal antibody-based test can be used to directly stain clinical specimens or tissue culture cells.
