VU 590 dihydrochloride has been reported to inhibit the renal, outer medullary potassium channel (ROMK, KIR1.1) while also able to inhibit the inward rectifying potassium channel KIR7.1. This comppound is also reported to not display an effect towards KIR2.1 or KIR4.1 and additionally acts as an intracellular ROMK channel pore blocker.
