OptiMAL-IT is an individual immunochromatographic rapid test for malaria diagnosis on whole blood samples based on the detection of pLDH (parasite lactate dehydrogenase) of Plasmodium sp. OptiMAL-IT is able to differentiate P. falciparum from non-P. falciparum in 20 minutes only.
Recently, WHO has recommended to perform malaria diagnosis using rapid test assays before initiating anti-malarial therapy.
